The Boy From the Transkei
The rolling green hills of the rural Transkei is the place Mandela thinks of as home; it is there he has built his retirement house. Growing up in the royal kraal of the Madiba clan, Mandela was groomed to be advisor to the King of Thembus.

When I was with him in the Transkei, I used to get up with him very early to take these incredibly long walks around the hillsides near his house in Qunu. He is a very early riser, as he always tell you, and I am not a very early riser. So he would always tease me about how tired I was and that maybe I had to stay up all night in order to get ready for the walks that began at 5:30. And this was the most wonderful part of his day.

BIRTHDAY GIFT TO PERPETUATE MADIBA’S HISTORY

Film producer Anant Singh, currently in production on the only official film based on Nelson Mandela’s autobiography, Long Walk To Freedom together with the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory announced on the eve of Mandela Day the production’s involvement in perpetuating the legacy of Madiba and Mandela Day.

IMBUMBA FOUNDATION CHALLENGE 1000

Challenge1000 is an initiative developed by Imbumba Foundation that aims to reach a minimum of 1000 impoverished rural girls who do not have access to sanitary pads.

The project seeks to raise much-needed funds while highlighting the plight facing poor girls. Sanitary pads are a necessity for any woman but unfortunately they are a luxury for these girls.
