An Evening in West Africa - Event photos

We put the dogs in the car and drove the 3 hours to Fresno on Friday to attend a fundraiser hosted by my friend Chris Collins, Executive Director of WAVS. I wanted to support them in their effort to build a water tower for their vocational school in Guinea Bissau. I also carried with me an original painting by Du Pintor, which I was donating for their silent auction. If you do not remember the story of the Du Pintor paintings and their journey to America, click here.

It was a fun (and successful) night!  WAVS exceeded their $10,000 goal and will now be able to construct the new water tower!

oh, and if you're wondering who walked away with Du's painting.

Shelly and her family drove from the Bay Area and cast the final winning bid for the Du Pintor painting. Shelly plans to make a trip to Guinea Bissau very soon and hopefully will be able to meet Du in person.

Congrats to Shelly!!
